Why this Journal?
As newly married wives, most of us enter into marriage without knowing what it takes to make it work. Without relying on God for direction, we often make mistakes that cause both ourselves and our husbands a great deal of heartache. Sadly, these heartaches can lead to even more mistakes, creating a cycle of confusion and frustration.
The best thing we can do is to go back to God for help, surrendering our control, our need to be right, and our pride, in exchange for His grace.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
This journal is especially for you if:
1. You constantly worry about your husband and your marriage
Instead of letting fear and “what ifs” take over, choose to submit
your husband and marriage to God. He has promised to give us
peace that surpasses all understanding when we pray (Philippians
4:7). Most of the prompts in this journal cover the most common
worries newly married wives have shared with me on Instagram.
- You are newly married or struggling to understand your
husband’s needs and your wifehood
God promises to give us wisdom liberally when we ask (James 1:5).
Instead of guessing, invite Him into the places where you feel stuck.
Some prompts will also help you pray over your own heart, so you
can love and serve your husband as God desires. - You don’t know how to pray or want to pray more consistently
The Bible reminds us that we often don’t know what to pray, but the
Holy Spirit helps us (Romans 8:26). You don’t have to pray perfectly.
Start where you are, and let this journal guide you daily with prayer
prompts and space to write your requests. As you pray, trust that
the Holy Spirit will guide your words. And over these 21 days, our
hope is that prayer becomes your daily habit.
