A Wife’s Prayer for Marriage Restoration

Dear Lord, please show me and my husband where we have sinned in our marriage, that we may repent. Reveal to us our destructive behaviors especially those that we are blind to and help us be willing to turn away from them. Give us repentant hearts and help us Confess our faults one to another, and pray one for another, that we may be healed. (see James 5:16).

Remove in our hearts, selfishness, self righteousness, pride and insensitivity. Where we feel deeply heart and resentful, please help us let go of  “all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speaking with all malice:” (see Eph 4:31). Give us compassionate hearts and help us be kind and tender hearted forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven us. (see Eph 4:32)

You have said in Your word that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask You to give us. Today I ask that you give us wisdom to rebuild our marriage. Instruct us and teach us in the way which we should go… (Psalms 32:8). Reveal to us clearly what we should do and what we need to avoid and help us obey You.

Open our ears and soften our hearts that we may hear and understand Your instructions. Help us to let go of resistance and disobedience, and give us a deep desire to work on our marriage restoration.

Bring to destruction every stronghold of the enemy, sinful thought patterns, habits and influences that are preventing us from being reconciled. Forgive us where we have sinned against You and take away Your punishment from us, including that of our parents. Relent from sending calamity where we have angered You and remember how weak we are. Fight for us in the spirit and destroy every weapon formed against our marriage and we will glorify You.

Lord, You have promised to deliver us in the day of trouble (see Psalms 50:51). I’m calling on You Lord, for I am weak, beaten down and overwhelmed. Fight for me Lord, and I shall hold my peace (see Exodus 14:14 )

I submit my marriage, my will, my heart’s desires and my control into Your hands and pray that Your will be done. May our marriage restoration be a testament to Your power and faithfulness.

In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray for wisdom to rebuild your marriage.

When your marriage is on the line, every word and action matters. Ask God to guide you and show you exactly what steps to take, not just to save your marriage, but to rebuild it stronger than before. God has promised to give wisdom generously to all who ask (see James 1:5)

Pray for a willing and obedient heart in your marriage restoration journey.

God is so gracious. He is willing to lead you in the way you should go, but He will never force you, because He’s given you free will. If your heart has grown hard from pain, the world’s influence, or even pride, ask Him to soften it. When you surrender fully to Him, He can shape your heart and align your desires with His perfect will.

Pray for a repentant heart.

As you pray for your marriage to be restored, also ask God to show you where you need to repent. The Bible says, “If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us” (1 John 1:10). Be honest about the part you’ve played in your marriage struggles so you can turn from it. Ask God to give you a humble heart and the wisdom to apologize to your husband with the right words and the right spirit.

Pray for a forgiving heart as well.

The Bible tells us to get rid of all bitterness, wrath, and anger (Ephesians 4:31). Be honest with God about how you feel, and allow Him to help you let go and forgive your husband, and anyone else who has hurt you. Forgiveness will open the door for your healing and help you see things more clearly. Also, pray for your husband to have a repentant heart and the courage to apologize to you.

Pray for restoration of love in your marriage.

Acts of love, whether through serving each other, showing romance, or honoring one another, are essential for your marriage to begin healing. Pray for wisdom and discernment to recognize the habits that communicate love and those that do not. Ask God for self-control and discipline to keep showing love in your words and actions, no matter what you’ve been through

Pray for perseverance in your marriage restoration journey.

Marriage restoration takes time, and sometimes, it may get harder before it gets better. You will need God’s help to persevere. Ask Him to strengthen you and encourage you as you wait. Pray for discipline to remain steadfast in prayer and consistent in your actions, especially when the journey gets tough.

1. A prayer to ask God for wisdom to rebuild your marriage

James 1:5 KJV

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Dear Lord, please give me wisdom to know how to save and rebuild my marriage. Help me hear and discern biblical counsel so that I don’t follow the wrong advice. Reveal to me where I am being influenced worldly, keeping wicked company, and following foolish advice.

Teach me how to pray for my marriage restoration and help me turn to You first with every question and obstacle. Break every unbelief and thought pattern that is against Your knowledge and renew my mind so that I can believe. Show me how to study the Bible and teach me how to meditate on it day and night.

I pray that You will show me the path in which to follow and establish my plans for me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

2. A prayer for a willing and obedient heart in your marriage restoration journey

Psalms 32:8-9 KJV

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: Whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

Father in Heaven, as You give me Your word and specific instructions in how to save and rebuild my marriage, I ask that You also work in me to will and to act in obedience. I may feel overwhelmed, angry, and too frustrated to keep going but, You are able to strengthen me through the storm.

Give me the strength and courage to take the narrow road of forgiveness and choose life that I may live. I don’t want to force my way, but to submit my will to You instead. Please strengthen me and deliver me from the evil one. Increase my hope and faith and help me keep my eyes on You so that I don’t give up.

Help me to believe in Your plan and purpose and to show my faith with works of obedience in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Philippians 2:13-14 KJV
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

Dear Lord, please reveal to me where I have broken Your law and precepts in my marriage, so that I can repent and follow the right path. I don’t want to hold on to what I think I should, nor do I want to live in sin, pleasing my flesh. Give me the courage to look at myself clearly and help me remove the plank in my eye first before I point fingers at my husband and others.

Give me the right words to ask for forgiveness from my husband and soften his heart to have compassion and forgive me. Help him let go of any resentment and bitterness in his heart and choose to work on rebuilding our union once again.

In Jesus, name, I pray, Amen.

4. A Prayer to forgive your husband in your marriage restoration journey

Luke 17:3 KJV

Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

Dear Lord, I present my pain and heartbreak into Your hands and ask that You heal it and save my crushed spirit. Replace any bitterness, anger and malice in my heart with hope and help me feel Your unfailing love for me.

Convict my husband’s heart where he has hurt and broken my heart. Where He may be distracted by worldly influences, people, or sin, I pray that You remove every obstacle in His way and speak to Him clearly so that He will listen to Your voice and repent. Give him the right words to apologize and help me have compassion on him.

Forgive me where I struggle to forgive and soften my heart to let go of control. Help me bring my burden to You and give me rest and peace beyond human understanding in Jesus name. Amen.

And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Give us the strength and courage to let go of every selfish, malicious and vengeful habits and choose instead to serve each other in love. Help us overlook offence and accept one another. Romans 5:3-5 KJV

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Heavenly Father, I ask for peace and patience as I wait on You. Help me continuously choose to trust You, especially when storms come my way and doubts creep in. Remind me of Your promises to me, and renew my hope.

Provide for me and surround me with God fearing people of faith to encourage me along the way and help me choose to only listen to godly counsel,

Give me contentment and help me give you the sacrifice of thanks giving, rejoicing always in Jesus’s name, Amen
