Welcome to part 3 of 7 Prayers For Communication in Marriage. In part one, and two, we prayed over past and personal issues affecting our marriages.
In part three, we will pray over Communication issues affecting your relationship:

To improve your relationship you need to be intentional and deliberate when reacting to circumstances.
For example, you need to notice your spouse’s effort and struggles and deliberately affirm them. When you notice small mundane things and bring them up, your spouse will feel seen and loved. In return, they will want to do the same for you if not better.
If you struggle to notice and affirm your spouse, you can invite God to help you. Use the following prayers as inspiration and then continue praying as the Holy Spirit leads you.
A Prayer To Forgive Each Other Quickly in Marriage
Dear Lord, please help us be quick to apologize when we hurt each other and keep our word to each other. Let us bear with each other, and forgive one another (Col 3:13). Help us to get rid of all the bitterness and anger against each other. Instead help us be kind and compassionate, forgiving each other just as Christ forgives us (Eph 4:31-32). Help us pray together and pray for each other and heal our marriage in Jesus name, Amen.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16 NIV
A prayer to understand each other in marriage
Heavenly Father, please help us be genuinely interested in understanding each other as husband and wife. Give us the ability to see beyond offense and human error and be quick to forgive. Let us not focus on judging each other, but be empathetic and kind. Help us prioritize the others needs and serve each other selflessly. Where we lack interest, I pray you show us creative ways to build our romantic love and renew our marriage in Jesus’ name, Amen.
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 7:12 NIV

A prayer to encourage each other in marriage
Dear Lord, please help us to support each other in every season of our lives. Help us be observant and identify when either of us is not in a good place. Let us not run or cower when difficult situations come, but instead stand together as one. Teach us how to pray and help us remain consistent in prayer all our lives. Give us the right words to encourage each other and help us appreciate each others support in Jesus’ name, Amen
There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: But the tongue of the wise is health.
Proverbs 12:18 KJV
A prayer to respect each other in marriage
Dear Lord, please help us respect each other in our marriage. Let none of us feel as though they are better than the other, but always value the other above ourselves. Forgive us where we have been proud, mistreated, or insulted each other, and help us learn to restrain our tongues. Let us respect each other even when we are away from each other and protect each other’s feelings in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Ephesians 4:29 NIV
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
A prayer to love each other in marriage
Heavenly Father, please strengthen the romantic love between my husband and I. Remind us what loving each other looks like, and help us do it in such a way that we feel the love between us. Teach us how to communicate our love language and help us be patient and understanding of each other. Where we fail to fulfill each other’s needs, I pray that you show us and teach us how best to meet the said needs. Give us wisdom to know how to love each other and sustain our romantic love. I pray that we will be the best wife and husband to each other in Jesus name.
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
1 John 3:18 NIV
A prayer for quality time in marriage
Heavenly Father, I ask that You help us make time for our marriage despite our busy schedule. Help us flee from the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. I pray that we don’t have anything to do with foolish arguments that produce quarrels. (2 Timothy 2:22,23) But instead, show us creative ways to enjoy life together and build our marriage. Let us be wise and intentional in our actions towards each other, and put each other’s interest first, in Jesus’ Name.
May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.
Proverbs 5:18 NIV

Encouraging words
The Bible says that the tongue of the wise brings healing (Prov 12:18). As a married couple, you have an opportunity to see each other at your best and worst. You can use this chance to support each other in a way that no other person can.
